Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is making rapid progress towards creating a comprehensive digital identity for its farming community through the Farmer Registry campaign, a key initiative aimed at ensuring transparent and timely delivery of government benefits. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has registered over 2.38 crore farmers, achieving 82.69 per cent of the target set by the Government of India.
The Farmer Registry campaign, launched on November 5, 2024, has already achieved 100 per cent registration in Ghaziabad and Rampur districts. Against the national target of 2,88,70,495 farmers for Uttar Pradesh, 2,38,72,418 farmers have been enrolled so far, with nearly 49.98 lakh registrations remaining.
The state government is implementing the campaign in mission mode, with district administrations, revenue officials, agriculture departments and local functionaries working together to complete the exercise within the next 90 days, targeting completion by September 26, 2026.
The initiative aims to establish a unified digital database of farmers, enabling direct and transparent access to benefits under schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, crop insurance, agricultural subsidies, institutional credit and other welfare programmes.

Alongside farmer registration, the government is also digitising land records through the share determination (Ansh Nirdharan) process, which has reached 87.53 per cent completion across the state. Officials believe this will improve the accuracy of land records and help reduce future ownership disputes.
According to the Agriculture Department, the Farmer Registry will strengthen agricultural governance by enabling better identification of genuine beneficiaries, improving policy planning, enhancing scheme monitoring and ensuring faster delivery of benefits. The initiative forms a key part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader push towards technology-driven governance and data-based public service delivery.
